The Registered Nurse (RN) in Surgical Services at Gonda 2 South’s Outpatient Procedure Center delivers and coordinates patient care in a procedural setting, primarily circulating and assisting in the GI procedural suite. The nurse collaborates with staff in the pre- and post-procedure areas to plan, implement, and evaluate care; educates patients and families; and orients colleagues and peers. The RN coordinates direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care across practice settings and the continuum of care. Within Mayo Clinic’s Nursing Professional Practice Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the RN plans, implements, evaluates, and communicates all phases of care for assigned patients. The role also includes providing leadership through precepting, formal or informal leadership activities, and quality improvement efforts; delegating care based on staff skill and experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and available resources; and potentially participating in committees or projects. Some employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as part of their responsibilities. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship requires state licensure and completion of VisaScreen or equivalent certification. New graduate nurses are directed to apply through Mayo Clinic’s Nurse Residency Program.
