About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization's established policies, procedures, and protocols. The role implements and monitors patient care plans, monitors and communicates patient conditions, coordinates care across disciplines, carries out physician and nursing orders, and collaborates with the healthcare team on discharge planning. The position is in Surgical Services at UAB St. Vincent's St. Clair, with a full-time day schedule.
Requirements
- Hold an active Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing before the hire or job transfer date.
- Hold a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and required professional licensure at the time of hire.
- Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of the hire or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Coordinate care among disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
