About The Position
Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children’s 38-bed Mother/Baby unit provides family-centered couplet care. The Mother/Baby RN assesses, educates, and cares for postpartum mothers and newborns, identifies patient needs, prioritizes care based on assessments, and is accountable for care delivered during the assigned shift. The RN collaborates and communicates effectively with multidisciplinary team members. Ongoing education and training are provided in maternal/newborn care and breastfeeding.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Alabama nursing licensure.
- BLS and NRP required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities
- Assess, educate, and care for postpartum mothers and newborns.
- Identify patient needs and prioritize care based on assessments.
- Remain accountable for patient care delivered during the assigned shift.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
- Support family-centered couplet care, including skin-to-skin bonding, breastfeeding, rooming-in, lactation support, and designated quiet hours.
