About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for its 4 East Medical-Surgical unit in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The unit cares for surgical patients, including those receiving General Surgery, Gastrointestinal, OB-Gyn, Orthopedics, Vascular, Urology, and Nephrology services. New graduates are welcome to apply for many Registered Nurse roles. The stated starting pay for new graduate nurses with less than one year of experience is $36.00 per hour. The full-time base pay range is $41.93–$61.01 per hour; additional compensation may include shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonuses. Compensation depends on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 and relocation assistance may be available when specified criteria are met. The Registered Nurse provides competent nursing care using the nursing process and meets the standards of practice and professional performance. The role requires clinical knowledge and skills appropriate to the clinical area. The 10-week Transition to Practice program supports orientation, knowledge development, and skill acquisition for Medical-Surgical practice. For new graduates, it is the beginning of a comprehensive six-month residency program. Program elements include in-person instruction on fundamental nursing concepts and standards, case studies, gaming, simulation, skills labs, exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines, supervised hands-on work with a trained nurse preceptor, peer networking, and optional virtual professional-development sessions with mentoring for experienced nurses. Requirements

Associate degree in Nursing or bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Required Registered Nurse license.

Responsibilities

Perform a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
Meet standards of professional performance, including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
Use clinical knowledge and skills to meet the standards required for the specific clinical area.
Provide care for medical-surgical patients, including surgical patients in areas such as General Surgery, Gastrointestinal, OB-Gyn, Orthopedics, Vascular, Urology, and Nephrology.
