About The Position

As a Registered Nurse at Rochester Regional Health, you provide patient-focused care and support patients, families, and visitors with courtesy, kindness, respect, and compassion. This position is in the Med/Surg - 2 East department at Newark Wayne Hospital. 2 East is a 9-bed surgical unit with all private rooms, caring for pre- and post-operative patients across general surgery, urology, ENT, vascular, orthopedic spine, and gynecology specialties.

The position is full-time at 36 hours per week. The schedule is day shift (6am–pm) or evening/night shift (6pm–6am), with rotating weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse license from the NYS Office of Professions.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Compassionate, warm, and patient-focused approach.
• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional documentation skills and professional behavior.

Responsibilities

• Promote and restore patients’ health by completing the nursing process.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.
• Perform various treatment procedures.
• Provide physical, educational, and emotional support to patients, friends, and families.
• Supervise assigned team members.
• Develop and document individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed.
• Communicate effectively about patient health status, treatment plans, and progress.
• Use the electronic health record proficiently, including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication.
• Follow department and system protocols, local, state, and federal regulations, and education requirements.
