Registered Nurse - 2 East Surgical
About The Position
The Registered Nurse works in Rochester Regional Health’s 2 East surgical unit at Newark Wayne Hospital. This nine-bed unit has all private rooms and cares for pre- and post-operative surgical patients, including general, urology, ENT, vascular, orthopedic spine, and gynecologic patients. The role provides patient-focused nursing care and collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to support patients and their families. The position is full-time, 36 hours per week. The schedule is either day shift (listed as 6 a.m.–p.m.) or evening/night shift (6 p.m.–6 a.m.), with rotating weekends and holidays. The stated pay range is $39.83–$53.47; individual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Nursing (required).
- Current Registered Nurse license from the NYS Office of Professions.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
- Compassionate, warm, patient-focused approach.
- Critical-thinking skills and decisive judgment, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional documentation skills and professional behavior.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Promote and restore patients’ health by completing the nursing process and collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.
- Perform treatment procedures and provide physical, educational, and emotional support to patients, friends, and families.
- Supervise assigned team members.
- Develop and document individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs, with interdisciplinary health team support as needed.
- Communicate effectively about patient health status, treatment plans, and progress.
- Use the electronic health record proficiently, including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication.
- Follow department and system protocols, applicable local, state, and federal regulations, and education requirements.
