Registered Nurse - Day Surgery Unit - Full Time
About The Position
The Registered Nurse in the Day Surgery Unit provides highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients. The nurse provides direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while supporting Methodist Health System’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. The role is based at Methodist Southwest Medical Center, a 314-bed, full-service acute care teaching hospital serving communities in southwestern Dallas County. The hospital offers a range of services and facilities, including emergency, intensive care, labor and delivery, interventional radiology, trauma, neonatal intensive care, and oncology services.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- Current license to practice nursing in Texas or eligibility to obtain one.
- 12 months of RN experience.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to general hospital standards and promote a cooperative work environment through communication, interpersonal relationships, and team building.
- Assume responsibility for nursing components of the patient, family, and significant-other education process.
- Communicate with the care team, coworkers, patients, and family members, and evaluate their understanding of information provided.
- Create and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, coworkers, and the facility.
- Ensure complete, accurate, and timely written communication of patient information.
- Provide a therapeutic environment through safe, accurate, and timely medication and IV administration.
- Take personal responsibility and initiative for performance and professional growth and development.
- Use the nursing process to ensure quality patient care throughout the episode of care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
