About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Day Surgery Unit provides highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients. The nurse delivers direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while supporting Methodist Health System’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.

The position is based at Methodist Southwest Medical Center, a 314-bed, full-service acute care teaching hospital serving communities in southwestern Dallas County.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Current license to practice nursing in Texas, or eligibility to obtain one.
• 12 months of RN work experience.

Responsibilities

• Use communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building to support a cooperative work environment and adhere to general hospital standards.
• Take responsibility for the nursing components of the patient, family, and significant-other education process.
• Communicate with the care team, coworkers, patients, and family members, and evaluate their understanding of information.
• Create and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, coworkers, and the facility.
• Ensure complete, accurate, and timely written communication of patient information.
• Provide a therapeutic environment through safe, accurate, and timely medication and IV administration.
• Take personal responsibility and initiative for performance and professional growth and development.
• Use the nursing process to ensure quality patient care throughout the episode of care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
