Registered Nurse providing cardiac telemetry care to adults and geriatric patients. The unit has 32 beds and a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6. The role includes overflow IMCU and Med-Surg care, with patients transferred to the appropriate unit as soon as possible when needed. Nurses may float within the facility and their scope of practice. Travelers generally do not manage Precedex, which is managed by core staff. The position requires prior travel nursing experience and experience managing continuous IV medications, including cardiac drips, diuretics, anticoagulants, and insulin drips. First-time travelers are not accepted. Required certifications are BLS and ACLS. Epic experience is preferred. Scrub color is navy blue. The schedule typically includes every other weekend, with travelers filling gaps after permanent staff are scheduled. Call is rare, with a two-hour response time. Holiday work is required according to the number of major holidays occurring during the assignment: one holiday means working it; two means working both; and three means working two. Requests for time off are limited to a maximum of seven days per contract. Full compliance is required before starting; late compliance may delay the start by two weeks because orientation is held biweekly. Local candidates are accepted at the same rate. Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length.
