About The Position

Helen M. Simpson Rehabilitation Hospital, a UPMC and Select Medical partnership located inside UPMC Osteopathic Community General, is hiring a per diem Tier 2 Registered Nurse for the night shift. The inpatient rehabilitation hospital provides care for people facing medical, physical, emotional, and vocational challenges related to brain or spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputation, and multiple traumas.

The schedule is two 12-hour shifts per week, including at least three weekend shifts every six weeks and one major and one minor holiday. Compensation is $60.00 per hour, plus night and weekend shift differentials. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program and potential opportunities to advance into full-time roles. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) participation after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Post-offer employment testing (POETs) is part of onboarding and must be completed before the employee’s first day of work.

Requirements

• Valid state RN license.
• At least one year of RN experience.
• BLS certification required at hire.

Nice To Haves

• BSN or enrollment in a BSN program.
• Clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive admissions and/or transfers.
• Perform initial and ongoing systematic patient assessments.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation using EPIC.
• Interpret assessment and diagnostic data, including laboratory results and telemetry.
• Ensure medical orders are transcribed and processed accurately.
• Instruct and counsel patients and families.
