About The Position

Helen M. Simpson Rehabilitation Hospital, a UPMC and Select Medical partnership located inside UPMC Osteopathic Community General, is seeking a Tier 2 per diem registered nurse for its inpatient rehabilitation hospital. The hospital provides care for people facing medical, physical, emotional, and vocational challenges related to brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputation, and multiple traumas.

The position is scheduled for two 12-hour shifts per week, including at least three weekend shifts every six weeks and one major and one minor holiday. It is a night-shift role paying $60.00 per hour, with additional differentials for night and weekend shifts. The hospital offers an extensive orientation and the possibility of future full-time opportunities. Part-time and per diem employees may qualify for a 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year. Post-offer employment testing (POETs) is part of onboarding and must be completed before the first day of work.

Requirements

• Hold a valid state RN license.
• Have at least one year of RN experience.
• Have BLS certification at hire.
• Complete post-offer employment testing (POETs) before the first day of work.

Nice To Haves

• BSN or enrollment in a BSN program.
• Clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive admissions and transfers.
• Perform initial and ongoing systematic patient assessments.
• Document patient care accurately and on time using EPIC.
• Interpret assessment and diagnostic data, including laboratory results and telemetry.
• Ensure medical orders are accurately transcribed and processed.
• Instruct and counsel patients and families.
