About The Position

Nemours is seeking a Registered Nurse to work on 3 East, a general pediatrics surgical intermediate care unit in Wilmington, Delaware. The full-time position is 72 hours biweekly, with rotating or night shifts and every third weekend and holiday rotation.

3 East provides post-operative care for patients with urological issues, traumatic injuries, and general surgery needs. The unit also cares for patients with acute or end-stage renal disease and patients who need intermediate nursing care because of tracheostomy and/or ventilator needs. Patient rooms have oxygen, compressed air, suction, cardiorespiratory bedside monitors, and computers for accessing electronic medical records. The unit uses the Synergy model to make patient assignments based on patient and family needs and nursing skill sets. Its goal is to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of nursing experience.
• Must be eligible for or hold a current Delaware nursing license.
• Must have BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• If the candidate has an associate's degree, they must receive a BSN within three years.

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to pediatric patients on a surgical intermediate care unit.
• Care for post-operative patients with urological issues, traumatic injuries, and general surgery needs.
• Care for patients with acute or end-stage renal disease and patients with tracheostomy and/or ventilator needs.
• Use nursing competencies including chest tube management, pain management, blood product administration, urinary catheterization, tracheostomy care, ventilator management, and central line care and management.
• Support high-quality, cost-effective patient care using patient assignments based on patient and family needs and nursing skill set.
