About The Position

Good Samaritan University Hospital is a 537-bed teaching hospital and a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island. The Registered Nurse role is associated with cardiothoracic intensive care and cross-training in the Intermediate Care Unit. Nurses care for patients recovering from open-heart surgery and work with an interdisciplinary team to support patient outcomes and satisfaction. They also advocate for patients and their loved ones through safety interventions, emotional support, and education. The stated pay range is USD $56.39–$73.66 per hour. Actual pay may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. Requirements

Passion for the CTICU.
At least 1 year of experience in a Critical Care Unit such as CCU, ICU, CTICU, or CVICU.
At least 1 year of cardiac step-down experience.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree; an associate degree will be considered if the candidate is enrolled in an accredited BSN program.
New York Registered Nurse (RN) license and registration.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

Experience with open-heart patients.
Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification.

Responsibilities

Recover, assess, monitor, and administer medication to patients who have undergone open-heart surgery.
Document patient progress and manage overall patient care.
Partner with an interdisciplinary team, including attending physicians, registered nurses, and ancillary staff, to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Cross-train between the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) and the Intermediate Care Unit.
Advocate for patients and build meaningful relationships with them and their loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support, and education.
