About The Position

Vierra Falls Church, a Vierra Communities property, is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide compassionate, high-quality care to residents and patients in a skilled nursing setting. The role includes nursing leadership and oversight of assigned nursing personnel, direct resident care, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to meet residents’ needs. The position is part-time, works 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. on weekends only, is non-exempt, and is classified as essential personnel. Weekend shift differentials are offered.

Requirements

• Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state.
• Current CPR certification.
• Must pass a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in long-term care is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Direct the daily activities of licensed practical/vocational nurses and certified nursing assistants in accordance with applicable regulations, guidelines, and facility policies and procedures.
• Follow the nursing model to promote holistic resident care and ensure nursing personnel comply with policies and procedures.
• Participate in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers as required.
• Assess changes in residents’ status, notify physicians and residents’ families or representatives, and document accordingly.
• Transcribe physician orders into the medical record and carry them out as written.
• Prepare and administer medications as ordered and observe for adverse effects.
• Perform ordered wound treatments, observe for changes, and document accordingly.
• Schedule residents’ follow-up appointments and transportation as indicated.
• Provide nursing leadership to assigned nursing personnel.
• Provide direct care, including colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, and IV administration, in accordance with policies and procedures and as assigned.
• Make rounds to ensure residents’ needs are met and personnel perform assigned duties.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to holistically meet residents’ needs.
• Participate in management team meetings as indicated to discuss census changes, changes in residents’ status or care needs, and complaints or concerns.
• Assist with evaluating nursing personnel performance and implement discipline according to operational policies and as directed.
• Inform appropriate departments of concerns or complaints and file grievances as necessary.
• Report incidents or unusual occurrences to the appropriate nursing leadership and participate in investigations as needed.
• Participate in end-of-life care as required.
• Ensure adequate stocks of medications, supplies, and equipment, and notify appropriate personnel of needs.
• Initiate, review, and update care plans as required.
• Promote teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.
• Participate in inspection surveys when they arise and in QAPI activities as needed or assigned.
• Ensure infection-control principles are followed and help correct deficiencies in practice.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
