About The Position

Wythe County Community Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Float Pool. The role provides direct patient care across multiple inpatient units, using the nursing process and following applicable scope and standards of practice. Float Pool nurses work in a fast-paced, changing environment, adapt to unit needs, and collaborate with interprofessional teams to support safe, high-quality care. The position is full-time nights with rotating weekends.

Requirements

• Active Virginia single-state RN license or compact license; relocating nurses must update licensure to their new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• At least 1–2 years of clinical bedside experience in Critical Care, the ED, PACU, or a similar area.

Nice To Haves

• ACLS certification.
• PALS certification.
• Advanced Stroke course.
• 2–4 years of critical care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across multiple inpatient units using the nursing process and applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Float to units where needed and collaborate with interprofessional teams to support safe, high-quality care.
• Carry out plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and related medical care.
• Document care in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
