About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) works in the Med-Surg Renal Department at Texas Health Fort Worth. The 28-bed renal med-surg unit cares for kidney transplant patients experiencing complications or rejection, as well as patients with complex acute and chronic renal conditions and other comorbidities. Patients may begin hemodialysis in the neighboring unit or receive peritoneal dialysis. This is a full-time night position, scheduled 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. for 36 hours per week, with weekend and holiday requirements. The unit offers self-scheduling, educational and career growth opportunities, an engaged leadership team, and a strong Unit Based Council. Nurses deliver patient care using the nursing process and contribute to high-quality care through nursing education, research, and innovations in practice.

Requirements

Associate degree from an accredited nursing program or a nursing diploma.
At least one year of registered nurse experience, or completion of an RN residency program.
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
BCLS (AHA) certification before providing independent patient care, maintained quarterly.
Complete CPI training within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Two or more years of strong med-surg or renal transplant RN experience in an acute care setting, including charge and preceptor skills.

Responsibilities

Deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process.
Assess patients.
Plan patient care.
Intervene as appropriate.
Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporate age-specific safety and infection-control measures into patient care.
Initiate action to meet patients’ and significant others’ need for information.
Maintain continuity of patient care between shifts and hospitals, and while expediting transfers out of the hospital.
