About The Position

The Registered Nurse will provide specialized care in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas, as part of Ascension Premier Staffing. The role focuses on critically ill cardiac patients, including people in cardiogenic shock and patients recovering from cardiac surgery or transplant. Night shifts are available, with a schedule of 36 hours per week. Gross rate is up to $2,562 per week.

The nurse will manage advanced cardiac devices and therapies, care for post-CABG, valve replacement, and transplant patients, titrate inotropes and vasopressors using hemodynamic data, and respond to postoperative emergencies.

Requirements

• Certified Advanced Life Support (AHA or American Red Cross) obtained within 6 months (180 days) of hire or job transfer.
• Certified BLS Provider (AHA or American Red Cross) obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire or job transfer.
• Registered Nurse certification obtained before hire or job transfer.
• Compact RN license or state RN license relevant to the travel assignment location before the start of the assignment.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, or required professional licensure at time of hire.
• One year of RN experience in an acute care setting.
• Cardiac advanced device therapy management experience, at minimum IABP/Impella/Swan-Ganz management.
• Applicable license and/or certification as required by contract.

Responsibilities

• Manage ECMO, Impella, IABP, and VAD for patients in cardiogenic shock.
• Provide specialized care to post-CABG, valve replacement, and transplant patients, including chest tube management.
• Titrate inotropes and vasopressors using Swan-Ganz catheter data and cardiac output monitoring.
• Rapidly intervene in postoperative emergencies, including cardiac tamponade, arrhythmias, and acute hemorrhage.
