About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department fulfills the needs of patients across a variety of age groups, their family members, and the community. The nurse performs patient care tasks and functions in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements. The position is located at The Valley Hospital in Paramus and is a full-time day-shift role.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current, valid New Jersey license or legal permission to work from the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
• Completion of general nursing orientation.
• Computer and keyboard skills.
• Medical terminology required.
• BLS and ACLS required.
• PALS required within 90 days of employment.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including speech clarity and understanding information relayed.
• Deductive and inductive reasoning skills.
• Ability to work accurately, pay attention to detail, and change tasks without losing efficiency or composure.
• Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing work environments related to patients’ changing needs and acute, chronic, complex, or terminal disease processes.
• Ability to work cooperatively with health system and multidisciplinary team members.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including very heavy work as classified by the USDOL; NIOSH lifting guidelines will be followed.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care tasks and functions for patients in a variety of age groups.
• Support patients’ family members and the community as part of patient care.
• Work cooperatively with health system colleagues and multidisciplinary team members, including physicians, rehabilitation, respiratory, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory staff.
• Use time-management skills to set priorities, solve problems, and deliver care.
