About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the operating room provides safe and effective patient care by performing specific duties as a surgical technician during surgical and other invasive procedures under the direction of a registered nurse. The role performs routine scrub duties according to AORN standards and departmental policies and procedures, helps maintain a safe environment, stays current with operating-room techniques, procedures, instruments, supplies, and equipment, and assists with the ongoing Performance Improvement Program. Flexible hours and on-call availability at night, on weekends, and on holidays are required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an approved operating room technician program.
• Must be a licensed RN.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Demonstrate yearly competencies specific to the unit.
• Ability to take call.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective patient care during surgical and other invasive procedures.
• Perform specific duties as a surgical technician in the operating room under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Perform routine scrub duties according to AORN standards and established departmental policies and procedures.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment.
• Keep current with operating-room techniques, procedures, instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Assist with the ongoing Performance Improvement Program.
• Work flexible hours and be available for call at nights, weekends, and holidays.
