About The Position

The Registered Nurse is accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessing patients, making clinical decisions regarding nursing care, ensuring nursing care is provided safely and competently, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients. This is a patient-care role at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands Corporation, located at 311 Service Road. The position is onsite, scheduled for 24 hours per week on the evening shift.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; experience cannot be substituted for a degree.
Registered Nurse (RN) state license required.
0–1 year of clinical nursing experience required.
Familiarity with principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
Knowledge of care required by the respective age groups receiving care.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Excellent verbal and communication skills.
Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
Administer medications and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.
Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions.
Interpret plans of medical care; assess patients and make clinical decisions regarding nursing care.
Provide safe, competent, and individualized nursing care, and evaluate care for groups of patients.
Accurately screen and triage acute patients.
