About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols. The role is in the Birth Suites department at UAB St. Vincent’s in Birmingham, Alabama, and is scheduled every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in 12-hour shifts.
Requirements
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
- Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
- Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained before hire or job transfer.
- Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and professional licensure at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
