About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in the Birth Suites in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. The role implements and monitors patient care plans; monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate; and coordinates disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care. The nurse carries out physician and nursing orders and assesses and coordinates patients’ discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. The position is based at UAB St. Vincent’s in Birmingham, Alabama, and is scheduled every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for 12-hour shifts.
Requirements
- Alabama Board of Nursing Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential, obtained before the hire date or job transfer date.
- Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and professional licensure at the time of hire.
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Responsibilities

- Serve as a primary coordinator of disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
