About The Position

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse (PCU RN), internally referred to as a Progressive Care Nurse, provides specialized care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit who have acute and/or chronic medical conditions requiring close monitoring, intervention, and support. The role helps optimize patient outcomes and facilitate transitions to lower levels of care. This is a full-time, night-shift position with 12-hour shifts at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply, with details discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of one year as a staff RN in an acute care hospital.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a Critical Care Course.
• Critical Care RN (CCRN) certification.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, respiratory status, and overall clinical stability; monitor for changes and respond promptly to deterioration.
• Use telemetry and other monitoring devices to continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and other parameters, and recognize and interpret abnormalities in monitoring data.
• Administer physician-directed medications, including intravenous medications, antibiotics, pain management medications, and cardiac medications, while monitoring for adverse reactions or side effects.
• Perform physician-ordered nursing interventions and treatments, such as wound care, catheter care, suctioning, and oxygen therapy, and assist with procedures as needed.
• Follow evidence-based practice guidelines and hospital policies and protocols related to patient care, infection control, and safety.
