About The Position

The Med-Surg Registered Nurse on the 5E Acute Care Surgery Unit at St. Mary's Hospital delivers nursing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses. The role uses organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implements clinical nursing interventions, and develops and carries out patient care plans to improve outcomes. The nurse also helps ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.

Requirements

• One year of RN experience.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Six months of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• BLS Basic Life Support certification is preferred upon hire and must be obtained from an approved source before direct patient care; ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support is acceptable in lieu of BLS.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Collect vital signs, administer IV medications, document in the chart, and assess patient condition.
• Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to help achieve expected outcomes.
• Administer medications safely and in accordance with state practice requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
