About The Position

The Emergency Services Registered Nurse is part of the Patient Care Services team at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center. The nurse cares for pediatric and adult patients with a variety of illnesses, injuries, and trauma, assessing, intervening, and stabilizing patients in situations requiring critical clinical decision-making. The role includes completing a competency-based orientation program to become proficient in caring for the Emergency Services patient population.

The Emergency Department is a 24-bed critical care unit serving the Southern New Hampshire population. It is an ACS Level III-N Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center affiliated with Mass General, with a secure six-bed behavioral health unit for psychiatric emergencies. The multidisciplinary department provides care around the clock to more than 37,000 patients annually and offers opportunities for advanced certifications, education, and skill development, including ultrasound-guided IV procedures and arterial line management.

Requirements

• Current New Hampshire licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; ADN or BSN required.
• One to two years of experience in an Emergency setting required.

• Assess and implement priority-based nursing care and establish goals to meet patients’ needs.
• Integrate patient values, best practice, and evidence into patient care.
• Engage patients and/or families in care delivery.
• Function competently within the scope of practice.
• Use communication practices suited to the needs of the team and the situation.
• Delegate care activities to the patient care team.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Assess, intervene, and stabilize pediatric and adult patients presenting with illnesses, injuries, or trauma.
