Registered Nurse Per Diem - Inpatient Hospice

About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients across their life span. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and documents the effects of care. The RN works cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-team personnel to maintain professional nursing practice standards. These functions are performed in accordance with the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act, hospital policy, the hospital Mission Statement, and the Philosophy of the Department of Nursing.

Requirements

Current RN license in the State of Pennsylvania.
Successful completion of BLS.
Ability to meet the physical and sensory requirements described in the posting, including patient transport and lifting, carrying, and pushing objects.

Nice To Haves

One year of medical/surgical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform in-depth, systematic assessments of assigned patients.
Formulate collaborative, individualized plans of care and identify expected patient outcomes using the nursing process.
Implement, evaluate, and document patient care interventions and their effectiveness in accordance with the care plan.
Organize, coordinate, and prioritize patient care using available resources.
Maintain awareness of the unit budget.
Serve as a professional role model and resource person, providing guidance to co-workers.
Take an active role in unit-based performance improvement.
Maintain responsibility for professional development through participation in in-services and/or continuing education programs.
Follow the established chain of command for work-related problems.
Participate in identifying unit needs and support unit goals and objectives that contribute to the growth of the Patient Services Department.
Maintain departmental records for administrative and regulatory purposes.
Collaborate with other caregivers to ensure appropriate staffing levels on all shifts.
