About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Olympia Fields Hospital and provides direct care to adult and geriatric patients in a cardiovascular laboratory and surgical environment. The role addresses patients’ psychosocial, physical, and general care needs; communicates with physicians about patient conditions; and monitors and records patient condition and physiologic and hemodynamic data during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The nurse also ensures equipment, supplies, and procedure rooms are ready and supports performance and continuous quality improvement activities. This is a full-time day-shift position requiring call.

Requirements

• Active state Registered Nursing (RN) license.
• Current BCLS (AHA) certification.
• ACLS certificate upon hire and maintained as current.
• At least one year of clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Lab performing cardiac work or in a Critical Care area.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric patient populations.
• Address psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment.
• Communicate continuously and as needed with physicians about patient condition.
• Assist with maintaining equipment and inventory.
• Assess procedure room and equipment functioning and readiness.
• Obtain supplies for individual cases and ensure the Cardiovascular Laboratory team has appropriate needs met.
• Monitor physiologic and hemodynamic data related to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures performed in the cardiovascular lab.
• Continuously monitor and record patients’ conditions while they are in the cardiovascular lab.
• Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
