About The Position

Vail Health is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Family Birth Center and Level II Nursery. The Family Birth Center is a 7-bed LDRP unit caring for mothers and newborns, including low-risk deliveries, high-risk obstetric patients, and infants in the Level II Nursery. Experienced RNs have a high level of autonomy and 24/7 support from OB providers and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners. Nurses maintain NRP and STABLE certifications to provide advanced care and stabilization when needed. This role provides care for antepartum and laboring patients through childbirth, recovery, and postpartum; offers lactation education and assistance; and provides family-centered care for well newborns and Level II Nursery patients. The nurse delivers individualized, compassionate care and collaborates with providers, staff, and other team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. This is a night-shift position, working 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The hourly pay range is $40–$63.15, based on relevant education and experience. A $10,000 sign-on bonus and relocation and housing support are available. Requirements

One year of clinical experience.
Current Registered Nurse license in Colorado or a valid compact-state license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Minimum Associate Nursing Degree for positions hired after July 1, 2018.
Possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, computer skills needed for online learning, job-specific competencies, online forms and policies, and benefits enrollment.
Working knowledge of English, including reading, writing, and speaking.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily patient flow to optimize care, safety, and patient satisfaction.
Triage incoming patient requests for services.
Provide patient education to support the plan of care, informed healthcare choices, and wellness.
Delegate care appropriately and in accordance with Colorado statute.
Use competent healthcare assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills.
Handle a high volume of telephone requests for medications, information, and assistance.
Administer medications, perform treatments, and assist with procedures while adhering to patient safety guidelines.
Coordinate patient care with physician practices, Vail Health, and other parties as needed.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Use Relationship-Based Care to advocate for safety and patient preferences and promote communication by partnering with patients and families.
Model the principles of a Just Culture and organizational values.
Perform other duties as assigned and maintain HIPAA compliance.
Care for antepartum, laboring, recovery, and postpartum patients, as well as well newborns and Level II Nursery patients.
Provide lactation education and assistance.
