About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse assignment for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Plattsburgh, NY. The assignment is for 16 weeks, starting on 09/07/2026, with a shift of 3x12 Nights. The role involves acute inpatient and telemetry duties within a hospital-based unit. The nurse will provide bedside care, monitor patients, administer medications, and participate in the unit's resource float team as needed. Healthforce Healthcare LLC provides assignment support, including licensing and onboarding coordination, as well as dedicated unit-specific onboarding and ongoing clinical support.

Requirements

  • Active New York RN license or proof of application with applied date
  • BLS, ACLS required
  • NIHSS required prior to start
  • Minimum 1 year of tele/PCU or related high-acuity inpatient experience
  • Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years
  • Telemetry monitoring required
  • Insulin and cardiac drips experience
  • Ability to start IVs and manage post-cath care
  • Graduation from an approved registered nursing program
  • Ability to work in an acute inpatient PCU setting with telemetry
  • Must be able to float to appropriate units as part of the float team
  • Must be able to work 2 out of 3 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year’s)

Responsibilities

  • Provide bedside nursing care for adult patients on a Progressive Care Unit with telemetry monitoring
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans; respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
  • Monitor cardiac status, administer medications and IV therapies (including insulin drips and cardiac drips) as ordered; titrate per protocol
  • Start IVs, manage venous access, and document in the electronic medical record (Epic)
  • Perform EKGs, interpret rhythms, and collaborate with the care team on discharge planning and care coordination
  • Maintain patient safety and comply with unit protocols; participate in the unit’s resource float team as needed
