About The Position

Registered Nurse – PCU travel opportunity in Atlanta, GA. This is a 13-week contract position with guaranteed 48 hours per week, working 12-hour night shifts, four nights per week. The setting is a hospital medical step-down unit. The role involves providing direct nursing care for adult patients with acute and evolving conditions, performing comprehensive assessments, administering medications, managing IVs and lines, documenting care in the electronic medical record, responding to emergencies, and supporting discharge planning and patient education.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a medical step-down unit or equivalent high-acuity setting.
ACLS and BLS certifications required.
Experience caring for patients with sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, respiratory failure, COPD, and CKD is relevant to the unit’s patient population.
Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (four nights per week) in a 1:4 patient-ratio environment.
Willingness to participate in a travel assignment with a 13-week duration.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care for adult patients in a medical step-down unit, with acute and evolving conditions such as sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, respiratory failure, COPD, and CKD.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, monitor vital signs and lab values, and adjust care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
Administer prescribed medications and therapies; manage IVs, lines, and invasive monitoring as appropriate.
Document care, assessments, and outcomes clearly in the electronic medical record; communicate changes promptly to the care team.
Respond to clinical changes and emergencies; participate in rapid assessment and escalation as needed.
Support discharge planning and patient and family education to promote safety and continuity of care.
