About The Position

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to join its Women’s Operating Room. The Women’s OR has eight fully functional, state-of-the-art operating rooms and cares for patients undergoing general gynecology, gynecological oncology, urological gynecology, and robotic procedures. Other specialties performed in conjunction with gynecologic surgery may include urology, general surgery, colorectal surgery, and plastics. Each operating room is similarly equipped so procedures can be performed in any room. Patients cared for in the Women’s OR include ambulatory, same-day admission, and inpatient cases. Patients may also arrive from the Emergency Room, outside facilities, or directly from home or a physician’s office. The role is full-time, on day shift, with 10- or 12-hour shifts scheduled Monday through Friday. Minimal call is required to cover weekday nights, weekends, and Inova-observed holidays. Eligible nurses may qualify for sign-on and relocation bonuses.

Requirements

At least 1 year of direct Operating Room experience as a Registered Nurse.
BSN or ADN from an accredited school of nursing. Nurses with an ADN must complete a BSN within 5 years of their start date.
Must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse.
Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.

Multi-specialty trained Operating Room nurse.

Responsibilities

Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships.
Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interprets trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
Supports and empowers patients and families as they progress through the healthcare continuum, from health promotion to end-of-life decisions.
Advocates for patients’ rights from the patient and family perspective, provides counsel, and acts as a resource to resolve issues.
Anticipates patients’ and families’ ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs and assists staff in assessing patients’ learning needs.
