About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and throughout the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs, and works within the Mayo Nursing Care Model to plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for RN practice. The RN provides leadership through precepting, informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource adequacy.
