About The Position

MercyOne Dubuque is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Psychiatric Services department. This is a full-time position with 12-hour night shifts, totaling 36 hours per week. The role involves providing and directing safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. The Registered Nurse will utilize evidence-based practice and critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. This position manages a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity and supervises other nursing team members. The nurse will also facilitate communication with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members, while adhering to MercyOne's performance expectations and upholding its Mission, Vision, and Values.

Requirements

Associate degree in nursing required
Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Responsibilities

Conducts assessment
Identifies patient problems and develops plan of care
Implements outcome/goal - based plan of care
Evaluates patient progress and revises the outcome/goal - based plan as needed
Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals
Demonstrates clinical competence
Manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable
Provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit
Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
