RN - Psychiatric Services Registered Nurse
About The Position
MercyOne Dubuque is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Psychiatric Services department. This is a full-time position with 12-hour day shifts, working 36 hours per week. The RN will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Utilizing evidence-based practice and critical thinking, the RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. The role involves managing a diverse patient population, supervising other nursing team members, and facilitating communication among physicians, patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team. Adherence to MercyOne's performance expectations and upholding the Mission, Vision, and Values of MercyOne is essential.
Requirements
- Associate degree in nursing required
- Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Responsibilities
- Conducts assessment
- Identifies patient problems and develops plan of care
- Implements outcome/goal - based plan of care
- Evaluates patient progress and revises the outcome/goal - based plan as needed
- Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals
- Demonstrates clinical competence
- Manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable
- Provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit
- Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
