The Registered Nurse delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with department requirements and state and specialty standards of practice. Working with medical providers and the care team, the nurse provides personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The nurse advocates for patients, families, and caregivers while supporting the organization’s mission, values, positive patient experiences, and clinical outcomes. The role includes assessing patients at admission and during scheduled shifts, identifying and reporting changes, carrying out provider-ordered procedures and monitoring, and documenting care promptly and thoroughly. The nurse administers prescribed medications, monitors responses, and takes appropriate action when unintended responses occur. The nurse also responds to patient requests, anticipates needs, and educates patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up care, explaining complex medical terminology in an understandable way.
