About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Hampton Roads is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Registered Nurses provide compassionate care and treatment to patients throughout this vulnerable stage of recovery. The role is based in Newport News, Virginia, and is per diem, with day and night shifts available. The minimum per diem commitment is four shifts in a six-week period. The position offers a comprehensive orientation program and the possibility of future full-time opportunities.

Requirements

• Valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Receive admissions and transfers to the unit.
• Conduct initial and ongoing systematic patient assessments.
• Document information accurately and promptly using appropriate systems.
• Interpret assessment and diagnostic data, including laboratory results and telemetry.
• Ensure medical orders are transcribed and processed accurately.
• Demonstrate competence during rapid response and code events.
• Instruct and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
