About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in the Emergency Department and Triage at UAB St. Vincent’s Blount in Oneonta, Alabama. The Emergency Department is a 10-bed Level III Trauma Center providing 24/7 emergency care for severe illness and injury. Nurses work with an emergency care team that includes cardiovascular, surgical, neurology, stroke, and orthopaedic specialists. Available full-time schedules are nights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., days from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for a Triage RN.

Requirements

• Alabama Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential, obtained before the hire or job transfer date.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and professional licensure at the time of hire.
• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• PALS Provider certification obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• For the Freestanding Emergency Room, at least one year of critical care or emergency experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions as appropriate.
• Coordinate care as the primary coordinator across disciplines.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
