About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in the Emergency Department and triage at UAB St. Vincent’s Blount, a 10-bed Level III Trauma Center providing emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The nurse works with an emergency care team that includes cardiovascular, surgical, neurology, stroke, and orthopaedic specialists to care for patients with severe illness and injury, including heart attacks, strokes, concussions, and broken bones.

Available full-time schedules are days, 7 a.m.–7 p.m., and nights, 7 p.m.–7 a.m. The position is located at UAB St. Vincent’s Blount in Oneonta, Alabama. Eligible positions may include paid time off, paid parental leave, an Associate Assistance Program, and tuition reimbursement.

Requirements

• Alabama Registered Nurse licensure from the Alabama Board of Nursing, obtained before the hire or job transfer date.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
• Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
• PALS Provider certification obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
• For the Freestanding Emergency Room, at least one year of critical care or emergency experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Coordinate care across disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge-planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
