RN - Registered Nurse - Emergency Department - Multiple Shifts
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in the Emergency Department at UAB St. Vincent's Chilton in Clanton, Alabama. The nurse follows the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols; implements and monitors patient care plans; and monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions. The role coordinates care across disciplines, carries out physician and nursing orders, and works with the healthcare team to assess and coordinate patient discharge needs. Available schedules include full-time nights (7 p.m.–7 a.m.), full-time evening (7 a.m.–7 p.m.), and PRN Tier I and II. For the Freestanding Emergency Room, at least one year of critical care or emergency experience is required.
Requirements
- Alabama Registered Nurse licensure obtained before the hire or job transfer date.
- Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
- Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
- PALS Provider certification obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification accepted.
- For the Freestanding Emergency Room, at least one year of critical care or emergency experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Coordinate care as the primary coordinator among disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
