About The Position
The Registered Nurse works in the 29-bed General Surgery unit at UVMMC’s Medical Center Main Campus in Burlington, Vermont. The unit cares for a wide range of surgical and trauma patients, with stays typically lasting 1–7 days or longer when surgical complexity requires it. Patients include those undergoing general, colorectal, dental, trauma, plastic, and weight-loss surgeries, as well as adult burn patients requiring acute care. The nurse works as part of a multidisciplinary team. The unit supports professional growth through certification and continued education opportunities, and nurses may advance through the Clinical Advancement and Recognition Program (CARP). This is a bargaining union position. On-call is not required.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to surgical and trauma patients in the General Surgery unit.
- Care for patients undergoing general, colorectal, dental, trauma, plastic, and weight-loss surgeries.
- Provide acute care for adult burn patients.
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team.
