About The Position
The Registered Nurse works in the 29-bed General Surgery unit at UVMMC’s Medical Center Main Campus in Burlington, Vermont. The unit treats a wide range of surgical and trauma patients, whose stays typically last from 1 to 7 days and may be extended due to surgical complexity. Nurses care for patients following general surgery, colorectal, dental, trauma, plastic, and weight-loss surgeries, and provide acute care for adult burn patients. The role is part of an energetic, multidisciplinary team described as flexible and supportive, with colleagues willing to teach. Professional growth is supported through certifications, continued education opportunities, and the Clinical Advancement and Recognition Program (CARP). This is a bargaining union position; on-call duty is not required.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to surgical and trauma patients in a 29-bed General Surgery unit.
- Care for patients following general, colorectal, dental, trauma, plastic, and weight-loss surgeries.
- Provide acute care for adult burn patients.
