About The Position

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse delivers nursing care to a broad spectrum of patients, ranging from short-stay patients to trauma patients, in a fast-paced, high-intensity setting. The role includes assessing patient status, determining the priority of patient problems and needs, implementing clinical nursing interventions, and developing and carrying out patient care plans to improve outcomes. The nurse helps maintain a safe and therapeutic environment and coordinates care with an interprofessional team across hospital departments.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited associate or bachelor’s degree nursing program.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) or ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred at hire; required from an approved source before direct patient care. ACLS and PALS must be obtained within six months of hire.
• One year of professional experience practicing as a Registered Nurse.

Nice To Haves

• Recent Emergency Department or Critical Care experience.
• EPIC Electronic Health Record training.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Care for groups of patients in a fast-paced, high-intensity setting as part of an interprofessional team.
• Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to support planned and expected outcomes.
• Serve as a point of contact for patients’ care coordination throughout hospital departments.
• Provide care to a broad spectrum of patients, ranging from short-stay to trauma.
• Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
