About The Position

A Registered Nurse working in the Center for Women's Health is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and has the primary responsibility for and provides direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients. This includes representing the practice both in person and on the telephone, other OHSU departments, and non-OHSU facilities. The Registered Nurse assesses patient and family needs, develops a plan of care, implements and evaluates the care delivered. The Registered Nurse is expected to practice in accordance with professional standards, core values, and with a commitment to service excellence. The Resource Nurse in the CWH may work in various divisions including Perinatology, Infertility, Urogynecology, Internal Medicine, OBGYN Faculty and Residents, Nurse Midwives, and Family Planning, as well as assisting in Procedures that may include Conscious Sedation, Blood Transfusions, and IV Hydration. The divisions within CWH that this nurse may work in include, but are not limited to, Perinatology, Generalist OBGYN, midwifery, and fetal monitoring unit. Procedures completed include, but are not limited to, IV infusions (medication or hydration), medication administration, in-person patient education, post-partum visits, post-operative wound assessment and care, non-stress tests (NST), limited third trimester ultrasound. The nurse must be able to maintain a smooth operation of the entire practice, using problem-solving and decision-making combined with sound clinical judgments. They will assist providers with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and treatments as needed in the clinic and must respond appropriately in crisis situations, understanding procedures for medical emergencies and other disaster situations.

Requirements

2-years’ current experience in OB/GYN
2 years’ experience in outpatient clinic
1 year phone triage experience
Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Nice To Haves

BSN Nursing degree
At least 2 years’ experience in OB/GYN
At least 2 years’ experience in outpatient clinic
Experience using EPIC
At least 2 years’ experience with phone triage
Recent experience with phlebotomy and IVs
1 year experience starting and maintaining IVs for Hydration/Blood Transfusions/Medication Infusions
