About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) works in multiple physician offices to provide professional nursing care for patients, including assessment, treatment, care planning, medical care evaluation, and education, following established standards and practices. The RN float assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care and serves as a liaison between patients, staff, and providers.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree.
• Valid RN license to practice in Indiana or a state listed in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Two years of nursing/patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient assessment, treatment, care planning, medical care evaluation, and education in accordance with established standards and practices.
• Assist providers and staff in coordinating patient care and act as a liaison among patients, staff, and providers.
• Work with physicians, nurses, and patients to address questions about medications, health education, and medical advice within the RN’s skill level and scope of practice.
• Record and maintain complete and accurate records of patient and physician communications regarding medical care according to standard documentation requirements.
• Submit new prescriptions and refill prescriptions electronically or by fax according to physician orders.
• Serve as a resource to clinic staff regarding medical information, patient assessment, and nursing management of illness.
• Acquire precertifications and prior authorizations for patient needs.
