About The Position

Patient Service Representatives (PSRs) are the first point of contact for patients, family members, and caregivers visiting Franciscan Physician Network offices. They represent the network by providing information, direction, and support, and collaborate with providers, management, and clinical staff to coordinate patient schedules and provide administrative support. The role also involves compassionately discussing patients’ copayment, prepayment, and outstanding balance responsibilities.

The position is based at the Lafayette Ferry Street Medical Building in Lafayette, Indiana. Office hours are Monday through Friday during the day, with various schedules available. Travel is never or rarely required. Franciscan Health is a nonprofit health care ministry with primary and specialty care physician groups throughout Indiana and is part of Franciscan Alliance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of customer service experience.

Nice To Haves

• One year of healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, schedule appointments, and direct calls to appropriate staff for assistance.
• Work within an electronic medical records system.
• Collect patient payments and apply payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
• Balance daily encounter forms and cash drawers.
• Complete additional daily administrative tasks based on the practice specialty.
• Provide patients, family members, and caregivers with information, direction, and support.
• Coordinate patient schedules with providers, management, and clinical staff.
• Compassionately engage patients in conversations about copayments, prepayments, and outstanding balances.
