The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) utilizes the nursing process to assess patient needs, plan and implement individualized interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan. This role involves patient and family education, anticipating and recognizing changes in patient condition, and mobilizing appropriate resources. The RN collaborates with the healthcare team to coordinate patient-centered care, implements strategies to reduce patient risk and enhance safety, and applies evidence-based practice. They participate in quality improvement initiatives, professional development, and shared governance activities. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the life span. The RN assumes a leadership role in the care team, delegates appropriately, and promotes a culture of safety by identifying and intervening in potential safety issues. Ethical decision-making, respect for peers, and collaboration are essential. This is a full-time position with 12-hour night shifts, requiring every 4th weekend and 2-3 holidays per year. Charge RN responsibilities are desired but not required.
