About The Position

Sentara Independence - Emergency Department is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Emergency Department. This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week on weekend nights (1 PM - 1 AM). The Emergency Room at Sentara Independence offers 24/7 access to board-certified emergency physicians and quality nurses, with a focus on outstanding service and quick, expert patient treatment. The facility features a new family-friendly waiting room, private patient care rooms with state-of-the-art cardiac monitoring, a minor care treatment area, and on-site imaging services (X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT, and MRI). Support is provided by local EMS and Sentara's air ambulance service, Nightingale, for patient transfers. Sentara Independence is an extension of the quality services at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Requirements

  • ADN required, BSN or higher preferred.
  • Virginia or compact multistate RN (Registered Nurse) license in good standing.
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • ED experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Utilize the standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
  • Adhere to the standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
