About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Care is provided to neonates, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. The RN coordinates patient care with the surgeon and anesthesiologist and directs and guides the OR Technician and other personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards. The role works with other departments and co-workers to support continuity and quality of care, efficient patient flow, and unit maintenance and organization. The RN adheres to applicable regulations, standards, and hospital or unit policies and procedures; participates in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-services; and serves as a resource for other personnel as appropriate. This is a temporary 12-week position in the Surgery department at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. The schedule is days, 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., in 8-hour shifts, with on-call required. The position reports directly to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor.

Requirements

Current and valid state RN License.
Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Current ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
Current PALS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
Minimum of one year of previous perioperative experience or on-the-job training.

Nice To Haves

Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) certification (AORN) preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
