About The Position

The Registered Nurse works on the 40-bed Cardiac Medical/Surgical Unit at Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, caring for acute medical, cardiac, and telemetry patients. The unit offers a collaborative and supportive setting for nurses at different career stages, where they develop clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and cardiac-monitoring skills. Nurses may pursue Intermediate Care training as they advance and are prepared to care for higher-acuity patients. The role provides high-quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. The nurse collaborates, delegates, and communicates with the healthcare team to support optimal care. Experienced nurses independently manage patient care and demonstrate clinical nursing practice, leadership, management, professionalism, and continued growth and development. The department uses self-scheduling, with normal shifts lasting 12 hours. New graduate RNs and RNs with less than one year of experience from licensure who accept a position are automatically enrolled in a yearlong Nurse Residency Program.
