About The Position

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for its Medical/Surgical Unit. The role provides knowledgeable, compassionate clinical practice and care coordination by working with patients, families, nurses, and healthcare delivery teams. The nurse provides safe, therapeutic, holistic, systematic, and patient- and family-centered care, incorporating individual differences and supporting patient and family education throughout the continuum of care. The role involves effective communication and cooperation with other clinical disciplines, and determining how care is delivered through direct patient and family communication, technology, and collaboration with healthcare team members. The schedule is three 12-hour day shifts per week, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The position is eligible for a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. Requirements

BSN from an accredited school of nursing; an RN with an Associate's Degree (ADN) must complete a BSN within five years of the start date.
At least one year of Registered Nurse clinical experience.
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships.
Formulate individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and patient-population trends to achieve best practice.
Provide patient- and family-centered care that meets patient and family needs throughout the continuum of care.
Advocate for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective, provide counsel, and serve as a resource to resolve issues.
Access resources across disciplines to achieve desired outcomes and coordinate healthcare and alternate services for patient and family transition planning.
Document patient care activities according to documentation standards and assist healthcare team members with documentation.
Evaluate care processes and outcomes, anticipate patient variances, and revise plans of care as needed.
Make clinical decisions using experience, patient-population data, and intuition, while promoting clinical decision-making development among team members.
Communicate effectively and cooperate respectfully with colleagues from other clinical disciplines.
Assist staff in assessing patients' learning needs and measuring patient education outcomes.
Provide direction and guidance regarding practice; serve as a clinical resource, preceptor, and mentor; delegate patient care activities; and coordinate unit activities as needed.
Use standards, guidelines, and care pathways, synthesizing care delivery from patient and family communication, technology, and healthcare team collaboration.
Complete a minimum of six formal contact hours for self-development and maintain a Team Member Continuing Education Record.
Evaluate clinical and quality outcomes and contribute to performance improvement initiatives.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
